California June 2011 Series
Mono Basin, Eastern Sierra
Lee Vining, California
A fitting shot to end the series. I had been at the Mono Lake Committee for an evening slideshow presentation given by wildlife photographer Marie Read . When I came out to the street afterwards to walk back to my motel, I could not believe the colors in the sky. I had planned to shoot some lake sunsets on this trip, but since my tripod was sitting in Barbara Lee 's garage, I was not carrying a DSLR. But as always, I did have my iphone with me. The colors captured in this image are true to what I saw. A small crop was taken from the bottom, and the exposure was adjusted slightly in Lightroom, with a bit more tweaking in NIK.

This photoblog is my nature journal and travelogue. Many of my wildlife images were made in environments impacted by humans. My goal is to feature each animal in a way that allows the viewer to sense the essence of its life in the wild. The purpose of the accompanying narratives is to enhance awareness and appreciation of our natural world, as well as to inspire everyone to protect and care for it.
